((Sorry if I did this wrong I went by what I read))
Name: Subaru Shonan
Age: 15
Gende: 10th
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Magic?: Shonan's power comes from Tao magic, an ancient form that works from drawing energy from the universe itself. The energy a person can collect varies to extreme degrees, some are born with the ability to harness more energy then they can control, while others reach a power like Master Kei and then there are some who even with a lot of training can't summon more then a little power, as I said it depends on the person. But drawing in the energy is only half of it, they must then control it, this is where Shonan has his biggest problem. To do that takes focus and mind power, which can be helped by a chant, an item can also be used to focus the power though it as a medium, like Shonan's sword.
Background story: Shonan was born in an ancient city, hidden from rest of the mortal realm, it is suspected that it is the last place where Tao sorcerers still exist. However it isn't that different from most cities, but it's schools teach students the basics of Tao magic, from there few are chosen to move to the apprentice stage at the age of eight. Shonan was chosen to be apprentice to Tao master Kei, she was so powerful that although she was oven one hundred years old she'd reduced her physical appearance to that of a little girl. Yet despite his good fortune, like most kids Shonan couldn't help playing with powers beyond his Ken. He was trying to summon an Ice Dragon Spirit, which he did, but he hadn't realised that the reason that it was under the master level spells wasn't because it was hard to do, but because it was difficult to control.
The dragon would not listen to him and left the city, it tore down the mountain into a small village near-by. Shonan tried to stop it on his own but failed and got hurt. Soon his master found out about the dragon spirit and quickly realised where it had come from. She eventfully put a stop it but the damage it caused was enormous. Tao Master Kei along with a counsel decided to banish Shonan after that, it was not just because he broke their trust but also because he'd placed them all in great danger, the chance of them being discovered was too great. Shonan was forbid from ever using his power, and after he'd left they moved the city itself to somewhere else.
Shonan wasted no time getting away from that village, as it was his fault that is was wrecked. He left the area with a heavy heart, and spent the next few days kicking himself without eating or much else other then wandering about. On the third day he woke up, and found a bundle in front of him, but he was in a forest so it defiantly wasn't there before. When he opened it he found a strange sword in a scabbard, when he first unsheathed it a strange symbols that adorned the blade began to glow in light blue light but the light soon dimmed and died away. He also found a note which told him that "Kashoku" was his birthright, he re-sheathed the sword and strapped it to his back, he decided that if he could do something to prove himself Tao Master Kei might forgive him, so he set out without any idea what he was looking for. Three years later after wandering from place to place he feels that he's very close to something, so instead of being just another drifter he decided to enrol in a local school so that he could move about easier and without drawing suspicion.
Shonan is a confidant and impulsive type of person despite his lack of skill in the Tao arts, he has managed to draw up an impressive amount of power when he needs it. Although he has a strong stubborn streak he has also demonstrated a tendency to dwell on mistakes.
Appearance: Shonan has short brown spiky hair, with light green eyes, and stands at about 5"9 with a medium build. When he's in his uniform he wears a polo shirt with a tie, and holds his book bag over his back. Tao clothes: He wears what seems to be a white t-shirt with a short green robe over it, the robe is as long as the shirt itself and has the symbol for Tao Master Kei on both the front and back. He wears brown pants with darker brown hiking boots and fingerless gloves.
House: None
Roleplaying example: After searching all day Shonan went to the park, not many people went through the park at night so it was a perfect place for him to hide. He looked around to ensure the coast was clear, then he jumped and pulled himself into the tree, the action itself seemed unnatural. Well it would to normal people as Shonan had used his magic so he could jump higher. He sat on a branch near to where the tree spilt into two, there he took off his bag and tied it to the branch but before that he reached in and pulled out a hammock and a pillow. He moved to where the split was wide enough for him to lay inside and set up his hammock there, he pulled up his travel bag and tied it to a branch next to him. "One last thing," he thought, he crossed his legs and interlocked his fingers with his thumbs joining at the top. "Pa Gu Ah Sun Fa," he chanted over and over as he formed a barrier, those outside the barrier could only see what they expected to see, and although it was a simple trick no one would expect to see a kid living up there. Now he was content to lay back, he was quite high so he cheerfully watched the lights in the city, as he waited to fall asleep. "My first day of school is tomorrow, I can't wait. I'll be able to hang around with all sorts of kids my age," he said excitedly.
